Weddings are joyful times. We, at St Peter's, welcome enquiries about weddings. Anyone who lives within the parish of St Peter's can get married here providing they have not been married before and have a previous partner who is still alive - but see below for a special service if one of you have been divorced. Roughly speaking the parish is the part of Birstall on the Market Place side of the A62. If you are a member of St Peter's church (that is, on the Church Electoral Roll) it doesn't matter where you live.
We do our very best to make sure that your day is very special. We believe that a Christian wedding is the very best way you can start out on your life together and we will be praying for you as you prepare.
We also have a special evening for those preparing for marriage when we will help you to consider some important things about married life. We'll also help you with choosing hymns.We can even provide the flower arrangements for the ceremony.
If you have been married before we can't marry you in church but we can offer a special service which is officially known as a 'Service of Prayer and Dedication after Civil Marriage'. Some people think that it's an even better service than the Wedding! Couples often have this service just a few hours after a Registry Office Wedding. If you really want a Christian Marriage this is a lovely way of fulfilling your wishes.
